Synopsis
A rags-to-riches story, this film shows how a poor couple from the rural poor, after a brief marriage, successfully bring up a child. The story is of two girls - Isha (Shabana Azmi), a beautiful and educated girl and Dharam (Rajesh Khanna), a poor and illiterate man who is brought up in the struggle to survive. He is married off to Isha by their parents. They both have their struggles. Isha wants to educate her son, but Dharam is left with no option but to work in a factory.
The film has its share of beautiful situations and moments. However, one can feel that this is a story with a strong message. The film is a'message film' as it has been written by the scriptwriter, Sanjay Dutt, who gave us films like Nishant, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Sautela Bhai, Suraj Ka Satvan Ghoda and Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai. This film is full of spiritual thought.
